Trends and uncertainties are identified, so as to create consistent and plausible scenarios. These scenarios give direction to the debate about the future; they show the opportunities and threats in a particular sector.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-c418dcb elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"c418dcb\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>The scenarios can be developed in different ways. In this case, it was decided to perform a trend analysis, in combination with the widely used and proven cross-axis method. In this way, impactful trends are identified, both certain and uncertain. This is important because we know that certain trends will continue. The development of the uncertain trends, on the other hand, is not certain. Hence, the most impactful uncertain trends form the basis for the axes.\nThis method has the advantage that it produces a sufficient <a href=\"https:\/\/media.deltares.nl\/deltascenarios\/Deltascenarios_actualisering2017_hoofdrapport.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">diversity of future images<\/a> while only one future image would arise if you would only rely on certain trends.<\/p><p>Earlier, the Stimulation Fund for Journalism (SvdJ) twice conducted a scenario study into the future of journalism in the Netherlands in <a href=\"https:\/\/journalistiek2025.nl\/bundles\/svdjui\/documents\/Scenario-onderzoek-SvdJ.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">2025<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/journalistiek2035.nl\/resultaten\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">2035<\/a>. These studies were conducted in a similar manner. This research is therefore their follow-up.<\/p><p>The research was carried out in the following steps:<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-211168c elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"211168c\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>1. A survey of experts on <a href=\"https:\/\/journalistiekonderwijs.nl\/en\/resultaten\/grote-vragen\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">key questions<\/a> about the future of journalism education.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-b5af118 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"b5af118\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>2. <a href=\"https:\/\/journalistiekonderwijs.nl\/en\/over-dit-onderzoek\/literatuur\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">A literature review<\/a> on a) trends in (higher) education and b) journalism education specifically.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-54901be elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"54901be\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>3. The determination of clusters of topics for the sessions with experts.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-e90d150 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"e90d150\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>4.
